La Grappe

Logo animation for an agrifood marketing agency.

La Grappe is a Montreal-based collective of marketing and design experts specialized in the agrifood sector. When the agency rebranded from Virtual to La Grappe, the new identity needed to come alive on their website. I led the motion design side of the launch, turning the new logo into a short animated sequence that introduces the brand to every visitor.

Motion design and animation. Brand identity by La Grappe team.

  • The new identity was developed by another member of the team, so my starting point was already defined. The question was how to express the agency's positioning in motion. La Grappe is named after a cluster of grapes, where each grape represents a different specialty connected to a shared whole. The animation had to carry that idea without literally illustrating it, and do it in a few seconds.

  • The animation follows a single grape as it transforms through a series of agrifood references. It starts with a bouncing grape that morphs into a wine bottle, the bottle rotates and turns into a flower, the flower rotates again and becomes an ice cream. Each transition uses a morphing effect to keep the motion fluid and organic. The ice cream then cycles back into a grape, which drops and bounces into place to form the final wordmark. The sequence communicates in a few seconds what the agency does : one core identity, many facets of the agrifood world.

  • The final animation was built for the agency's website as the introduction to the brand. The motion respects the pacing of the site, acting as a welcome sequence rather than a distraction, and a shorter loop version was produced for use in presentations and social media.
