Kangaroo Rewards
Motion system for YouTube and social media advertising
Kangaroo Rewards is a Montreal-based SaaS platform that helps businesses build customer loyalty programs, used by retailers and e-commerce brands worldwide. The mandate was to design a motion system for their paid advertising on YouTube and social media, with the goal of communicating product features clearly and quickly in environments where attention is short and competition is loud. The project explores how animation can simplify complex SaaS messaging without sacrificing personality or visual interest.

Advertising motion lives under specific constraints : the first three seconds decide whether a viewer keeps watching, formats have to flex across YouTube pre-roll and short-form social feeds, and the product itself is abstract by nature (a loyalty platform, not a tangible object). The approach was to treat animation as a communication tool first, using pacing, sequencing, and rhythm to carry product ideas forward. Working within Kangaroo's existing brand and product ecosystem, the goal was to find a motion language that felt native to the brand, quick to read, and flexible enough to support different messages without rebuilding the system every time.

The concept is built around clarity through motion. Each animation is structured as a short visual narrative, where UI elements, text, and transitions work together to guide the viewer through a single idea. Rather than relying on heavy visuals or decorative effects, the focus is placed on timing, sequencing, and flow. The result is a set of pieces that communicate quickly in the first seconds, hold attention through their rhythm, and close on a clear product message.

The motion language is designed to be consistent, flexible, and easy to read across formats. Smooth transitions, controlled pacing, and subtle movements create a sense of continuity between pieces, while UI elements, icons, and text animations are treated as a structured kit rather than one-off assets. This approach lets the system scale from a short social loop to a longer YouTube pre-roll while keeping the visual identity and the feeling of the brand intact.
Storyboard
Each animation started with a storyboard to define the structure, pacing, and key transitions. This step was especially important for paid advertising, where every second of content has to earn its place. Mapping out how the message unfolds before moving into production kept the final pieces sharp, focused, and aligned with Kangaroo's product communication goals.
